Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, change your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Lovely Sea Pines home with large pool & pet friendly! Short walk to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
