Our top Hilton Head rental booking tips:
Finding the best rental home value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick a perfectrental:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Magnificent Two Bedroom Villa Perfect for Families and Groups Alike! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
