Tips to get the optimal rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Hilton Head area:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean view condo with 2 balconies, new pool complex, hot tub & sauna has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
