The beach and the Atlantic Ocean are just a 0.4-mile walk away from a day of swimming, surfing, or fishing.

Explore the beauty of the area via bicycle or savor a horseback-riding adventure on one of the many local trails. Venture about three miles down the road to Harbour Town and browse through the stores. Play a few rounds of golf on one of the local courses or spend time at the freshly modernized complex pool, which is conveniently available day or nighttime and features poolside furnishings, changing rooms, and bathrooms.

Appreciate your favorite meal prepared in the well-appointed kitchen (which comes with starter supplies). Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you crave, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
