Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking a perfectrental home:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Conveniently located in Palmetto Dunes on the Robert Trent Jones Golf course has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
