How to find the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Bright, Family-Friendly Condo w\/Free WiFi, Private W\/D, Balcony, and Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
