Tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, shift your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it.
