Rental home booking tips:
Find your best deal:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Bright, Family-Friendly Condo w/Free WiFi, Private W/D, Balcony, and Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
