Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing a perfect Hilton Head rental home:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Third floor Penthouse with wonderful ocean views! - *Pool heated seasonally* has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
