How to book the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental:
- First, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 6 Beachside - 4 Bedroom Private Home Close to South Beach Marina in Sea Pines! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
