Rental home tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Hilton Head rental:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Villa with WiFi, Private Washer & Dryer, Central AC - Shared Pools, Hot Tub has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
