How to find the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental in Hilton Head:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Spacious Oceanfront Villa with 4th Floor Ocean Views! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
