Tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by having your group commit to dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Relaxing retreat near the beach with washer\/dryer, AC, and pool & hot tub access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
