Finding the best vacation home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting and booking the right Hilton Head vacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Relaxing retreat near the beach with washer\/dryer, AC, and pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
