Our top Rental home booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ideal Hilton Head vacation rental for family gatherings! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
