How to book the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Many Updates and Close to the Pool! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
