Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking your Hilton Head rental home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Great Ocean views, Oceanfront Heated Pool! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
