How to find the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the best vacation home:

- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. The best of everything in this stunning ocean view villa. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. - If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
