Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your Hilton Head vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best rental:
- To start, have your group select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Wonderfully Updated Two Bedroom Villa Close to Pool and Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
