How to find the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Wonderfully Updated Two Bedroom Villa Close to Pool and Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
