Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Luxurious all-suite home with a private pool and hot tub in a backyard paradise has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
