Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Wonderful Three Bedroom Home on the 11-Mile Lagoon! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
