Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best rental for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing the rightvacation home:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 32 Corine, Easy Beach Access, Seasonal Beach Shuttle, Pool, Free Golf has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a great stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
