Booking the best vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To get the largest rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the best vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • First, have your family choose date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Lakefront home with lake views, outdoor pool, tennis, grill has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
