Hilton Head rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best vacation rental:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Gorgeous oceanfront condo with new kitchen & bathroom, pool view, steps to beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If not, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
