How to book the best rental home experience:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Lovely Three Bedroom Villa close to everything! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
