How to find the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautifully Updated Two Bedroom Oceanfront Condo! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
