Getting the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautifully Renovated Oceanfront Villa w\/Heated Swimming Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Tips for your stay:

  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
