Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautifully Decorated Huntington Villa with beach vibe & attention to detail. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
