Our top Hilton Head vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental in the Hilton Head area:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Spacious Home with Gourmet Kitchen, Private Pool, & WiFi - Steps from the Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
