Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:

When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Stunning oceanfront home offering private pool & hot tub, steps from Coligny! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
