Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting and booking your Hilton Head rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. View of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.
Have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
