How to book the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the bestrental home:

  • To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Romantic Marina View Condo w\/ Free WiFi, Balconies, Washer\/Dryer, & Shared Pool has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
