Booking the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning and picking the best Hilton Head rental:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront Villa with Ocean Views, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, and More - Walk to Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
