Vacation rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Villa with Ocean Views, Shared Pool/Hot Tub, and More - Walk to Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you simply love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
