Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- To find the best value, change your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to select the best rental in the Hilton Head area:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Condo with Shared Pool, Hot Tub, Beach Access & Playground has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
