Hilton Head rental home booking tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental:

  • Select your vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Large Golf Course Villa with Lots of Space for Everyone! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
