Strategies to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and pick the rightvacation home:
- Select dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Large Golf Course Villa with Lots of Space for Everyone! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
