Tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Fabulous Oceanfront View, Just a few steps to the sand! Heated Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
