Finding the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Cozy Villa with Private Balcony, Shared Pool & Hot Tub - Walk to the Beach has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
