How to find the best rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book the perfectvacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Homey Condo with Lagoon View from Balcony - Hot Tub, Pool, & Beach Access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
