How to book the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Bright, Family-Friendly Condo w\/Free WiFi, Private W\/D, Balcony, and Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
