Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family choose date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful & Spacious House Near Beach w/Shared Tennis Court, Private Pool, WiFi has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you crave, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
