Our top Rental home tips:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your Hilton Head rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 1400 sq ft of nothing but comfort and fun! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
