Tips to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best rental home in Hilton Head:
- Start by having your family select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Pet Friendly 4 bedroom\/4 bathroom townhouse in Sea Pines, multi-family rental has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
