Tips to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Large Home Great for Families! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
