Our top Rental property booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental in Hilton Head:
- Start by having your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Very Nice Home Located on the 11-Mile Lagoon with Its Own Large Private Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
