Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the bestvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 1417 S. Beach Villa-Beachfront views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
