Tips to get the best rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. New 2-story townhouse with screened patio, grill, fireplace, fast WiFi, W\/D, AC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
