Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Stunning Oceanfront Hideaway with Private Pool, Deck, and Yard - Dogs Welcome has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
