Our top Hilton Head rental home booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, change your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. 6 Terra Bella, Oceanfront, Elevator, Private Pool, Roof Top Patio, Free Golf has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If not, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
