Strategies to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right Hilton Head rental:
- Start by having your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. A beautiful home to help you create your dream vacation! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
