Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Luxurious home with private pool, central AC, & high-speed WiFi - walk to beach has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
