Tips to get the very best vacation home experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation rental:

  • To start, have your group select the best dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Luxurious home with private pool, central AC, & high-speed WiFi - walk to beach has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
