Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, change your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Waterfront Condo with Ocean Views, Shared Pool, Hot Tub, and Covered Balcony has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
