Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- To start, have your family agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Second-floor condo in beachfront complex with pools, tennis & gym has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
