Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- To get the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the bestrental:
- Start by having your family decide on vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Luxury Two Bedroom SurfWatch villa. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
