How to find the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 14 Collier Beach, Oceanfront, Pool, Elevator, Free Golf has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
